An LED strip is only one part of an architectural linear lighting system. The final result depends on how the strip works together with the profile, diffuser, power supply, controls, thermal conditions, and installation geometry.
This is why successful linear lighting specification should begin with the intended lighting effect rather than with a strip SKU. Cove lighting, recessed lines, millwork, wall grazing, and visible continuous lines all require different combinations of output, LED density, optical depth, diffuser, profile, power, and control.
The same principle applies to details that often create problems later in a project: visible LED dots, voltage drop, thermal management, dimming quality, color consistency, and the effect of the diffuser on the final light output. Treating the components as one system makes performance more predictable and reduces specification and installation risk.
Yuji Lux has developed a practical guide for architects and lighting designers that explains how to specify linear LED lighting as a complete architectural system.
